Medicinal Spiced Hot Chocolate

Sourced via Pinterest

Inspired by our woman of the month Leela Kalyini's go-to breakfast bevvie, we’re sharing with you one of our favourite medicinal hot choccie recipes for you to try.

Don’t fret, medicinal mushies aren’t hallucinogenic – in fact they’re used to support immunity, gut health, hormonal function, and support the nervous system, amongst other things. Revered in ancient herbal traditions, they’re an adaptogenic herb that can boost health and vitality and encourage longevity!

Shrooms & boobs:

Mushies are powerhouses in terms of cancer-protective phytonutrients. For example, they contain beta-glucans, which can boost immunity and lower inflammation. They are also high in antioxidants that can protect against free radical damage. What does this all mean? Plenty of scientific evidence exists around the health benefits of mushrooms and how they can help to keep your boobs happy. Bottoms up to that!

1 tsp mushroom powder (we love Mason's blend by local Byron company Superfeast)

1 tsp maple syrup (or sweetener of choice, plus more to taste)

1 1/4 cups almond, oat, cashew or coconut milk

1 tsp almond butter (optional)

2 Tbs cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder)

1 small pinch each of cinnamon powder, cayenne pepper & ground cardamom

1 small pinch sea salt

Let’s make it!

Add mushroom powder, maple syrup, almond butter (optional), cacao powder, spices and sea salt to a small blender with a small amount of boiling water.

Steam or heat plant-based milk until hot and add to the blender. Blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until frothy and well blended.

Taste and adjust flavour as needed, adding more spices or sweetener to taste.

Yum. Enjoy!
